Disable Firewall in Windows Server 2012 R2
- In this example our domain name is ITLAB.local
- We have an OU called "ITLAB" which contains a few sub OU's. We have one for Computers, Service Groups, Service Accounts and Users.
- FYI - You will need to place your computer objects into the "Computers" OU in order for the policy to take place.
- Next is the right click on the "Computers" OU, Create a GPO in this domain, and Link it here...
- Now you will name the GPO. We will use "GPO - Firewall - Disable".
- I find it better to have several GPO's that have single functions rather than one large GPO with dozens of settings.
- This will be a computer based policy only. Browse to the following setting.
- Select "Windows Firewall Properties"
- Select each of the 3x tabs, Domain Profile, Public Profile and Public Profile.
- Turn the firewall state option from on to off.
- Follow the image below to disable the firewall for windows XP machines.
That's all there is to it. To test restart a PC that has been placed in the "Computers" OU and you should see the firewall has been disabled.
